Heavy Hips Tribal Belly Dance Artistic Director: Palika
Heavy Hips Tribal Belly Dance is a performance troupe dedicated to creating expressive contemporary Urban Tribal Dance in the time honored tradition of sacred dance. Inspired by the mystical and meaningful dance traditions of The Middle East, N.AFrica, Central Asia and India we are seekers of the Divine, creating relevant community dances meditating on our responsibility to one another and to the living Earth. We especially love dance of the people - that is by and for the non-ruling class. (Although we think the ruling class should take their socks off and rock and roll in the green.) We explore dance as ritual, healing, prayer, celebration and community building. We experience ourselves as Goddess on Earth in the Wise Woman Way, which means Green, Feminist, Mindful, and actively stirring the physical, metaphysical, socio-political, and spiritual cauldron.
Available for hire from 3 to 10 dancers and appropriate for all ages, we can bring the deeply mystical and powerful dance to your special event with swords, candles, song, drum and silk, let us take your breath away! Weddings, engagements, conferences, festivals, birthdays, anniversaries, cross cultural events. Palika loves to teach sacred dance to groups at circles, gatherings, rites of passage, blessing ways, or special birthdays.

We are not available for male only events and prefer 4-8 week advance notice. Variable rates are contigent on location, size and scope of event, number of dancers and the addition or not of live musicians.
